Children Looked After

Wembrook Primary statement on supporting Children Looked After and Children Previously Looked After

At Wembrook we believe children and young people need supportive and understanding in school. We have designated staff to advocate for them and ensure their needs are understood and addressed. When things become difficult it our job to work tirelessly to find solutions that enable CLA and CPLA* to be successful and not experience further rejection or failure.

*Children Previously Looked After (CPLA)

CPLA refers to children who are no longer looked after by a local authority in England and Wales because they are subject to an Adoption Order, Special Guardianship Order (SGO) or Child Arrangements Order (CAO).

Allocation of Pupil Premium Plus

Eligible CLA and CPLA are entitled to Pupil Premium Plus which is paid directly to schools. Although not a per-pupil entitlement the funding can be used to address any additional needs faced by the pupils.

Reporting to Governors

An annual written report is shared with governing bodies, no individual children cannot be identified from the report.

The school meets with an educational adviser from the Virtual School to meet with the designated teacher at least once a year. They support, challenge, advise and recommendations will be given in written feedback following the monitoring meeting.
