Year 5 Science week

5HT started off Science Week in the classroom by “cleaning” dirty water. Groups competed against each other to make the cleanest water.

Year 5 held a competition to find out which team could transport the most water across the playground using only containers made from paper! Children worked hard to test out different shapes and methods for making containers before all three classes raced against each other. The amount of water transported was measured and the results were put into a graph.

Children bought in the most amazing science homework projects – everything from “Walking Water” to beautiful lava lamps!

Our science workshop was fun from the beginning to the end. We learnt about sound and vibrations, dry ice, we kept balls floating in the air without using our hands, made rings of smoke and best of all, we became experts in making slime!
