Wembrook Primary School were lucky enough to obtain tickets for the Aegon Classic Ladies Tennis Tournament on Wednesday 12th June 2013. The Tournament took place on the grass courts at Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club in Birmingham.

This tournament is used by the touring professional players as a warm up for Wimbledon so the quality of the tennis is world class!  What a treat for the children chosen from the Year 3/4 After School Tennis Club as well as a few talented Year 5 players.

After arriving in Wembrook’s new minibus, we were treated to watching Heather Watson (GBR) on centre court before receiving a free Coaching Session from qualified coaches.  For taking part, the children received a brand new Tennis Racket and Ball set courtesy of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA).

Lady luck smiled down on us as we only saw 30 minutes of rain, despite rain being forecast for the whole day!  Feeling rather sodden, all the children were cheered up with a free face painting session.

There was lots of laughter and it was a fantastic experience for us all to remember.
